Outstanding awards event for the Chamber

The ACT Chamber of Women in Business presented their second annual awards on 12 August. It was a great night and a privilege to acknowledge women who have made an outstanding contribution to the local economy, the environment and the community this year.

We have four awards with three exceptional women who are very worthy winners. They all demonstrate commitment, passion and a desire to pursue excellence in all areas of their businesses. Congratulations to the winners, the highly commended and those who nominated, said Robyn Stanhope, keynote speaker at the awards.

Her company's focus is delivering innovative methods of workplace training and competency assessment that save people time, money and frustration. Ruth instills her core values of honesty, professionalism and strong customer focus into every aspect of Bayley and Associates. Kim Younger an employee of Bayley's said that Ruth lives and breathes her values making Ruth the best boss that she ever worked for, a very happy workplace and very satisfied clients.

Ruth says that growth has been a significant element of Bayley's experience this year - both internally and in the business. The key point of difference for clients is Bayley's flexible approach to service delivery. "We give the clients what they want rather than deliver an off-the-shelf product". Vicki says that she is passionate about improving the environment and doing the right thing by our world. She believes that the only way to make a difference is to start living your beliefs. Vicki lives, "Start local, think global". We need to create the world we want, not just wait for someone else to do it. Vicki has made changes through policy:

  • A developed Carbon Footprint Strategy;
  • An environmental policy that all staff have to agree to and sign.

She has also made practical changes by having separate bins so employees separate their rubbish into recyclable and non-recyclable. The result is no more than two supermaket bags of rubbish per week from a staff of 16 people.

The Chamber is very proud of its members achievements. Visit our website, www.cwb.org.au for more information.
