Garden Pests and Diseases
  • Snails become more active in cooler and wet weather and can be a problem for newly-planted seedlings. Control with a pet-friendly bait such as stale beer in an old tin can
  • Remove any fruit left hanging on your trees and pick up old fallen fruit from the ground. Put them in a plastic bag and bin them
  • Keep an eye out for pear and cherry slug on ornamentals and fruit trees. The telltale sign will be grazed leaves that only have the veins left. Control them by drying them out with vacuum cleaner dust
  • Remove weeds to minimise seeding and the over-wintering of pests and diseases
