- They are bio-stimulants which add amino acids to the soil, its inhabitants and plants
- They can help with stress resistance by increasing cell turgidity and thereby reducing the adverse effects of heat, frost, drought and disease
- Glycine, one of the amino acids aids in nutrient uptake and synthesis
- They are not fertilisers although manufacturers often add fertiliser to them so it is important to read the label to know what you are putting on your soil and plants
- Suppliers claim many benefits and uses such as: rejuvenation of plants, particularly after pruning or transplanting; encouraging root growth after planting seedlings or new plants; an increase in plant growth, bud set and longer flowering; an increase in pest and disease resistance; an increase in the sugar content of some fruits and reversal of dehydration.
